Energy transition
The pace of the energy transition from fossil fuels to sustainable alternatives is increasing and becoming more tangible and visible in our living environment. Organising this energy transition is extremely complex due to the diversity of interests and parties. TAUW is a valuable partner in this work, currently working on a number of concrete solutions in various countries and municipalities. Determining alternatives to natural gas and generation of sustainable energy differ greatly from project to and depend on many factors.
TAUW Italy helps in saving 355,700 kg CO2 at a railway junction

For the revitalization of the railway junction of Saronno (Italy) in 2020, TAUW mapped out for its partner NORD_ING the possible renewable energy sources that exist for heating and air-conditioning the railway buildings and the electricity consumption of the site.
NORD_ING is the engineering company of the main transport and mobility group in the Lombardy Region and, like TAUW, makes sustainability a top priority.
In a partnership with geologists, sustainability experts and technical engineers, TAUW has proposed to install six heat pumps, five wells and placed 1,700 solar panels for the air-conditioning, heating, electric energy and production of (sanitary) water. The payback period of the project is five years and will provide great environmental benefits. Every year, 355,700 kg of CO2 will be saved, equivalent to taking 374 cars off the road or planting 4,446 new trees!
